CHLOE-ANN May retained her Perpetual Trophy title at Wix Equestrian Centre.
The Colchester Sixth Form College student (pictured) saw off her rivals for the second year running, on board 17hh Irish sports horse Noah.
“I’ve struggled throughout the winter to fit in time to ride, so was delighted with the win,” said the 16-year-old, who lives in Little Oakley.
“My nan, Sheila May, purchased Noah for me back in September 2012.
“She initially bought him for herself as a hack, but passed him on to me when she stopped riding.
“Since then we have grown as a partnership and come on massively.
“A couple of weekends ago I took part in my first-ever British event.
“Noah performed amazingly in all three disciplines, especially the cross-country, where we had lots of challenging jumps.
“I’d like to thank my nan and family for all their support, my boyfriend, Sam, my riding instructor, Mary Thornley, without whom I’d never have come this far, and my sponsors, Nags On The Move Horse Transport.
“Without all their help, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
