HARWICH and Dovercourt Golf Club's Carnival Cup was won by Russel Alderman, with nett 61.

Second place went to Andrew Hazell, with nett 64.

Meanwhile, the club's Jubilee Cup team had a resounding victory at Maldon, winning 6½-2½.

Ian Powel who won his last singles match in a county competition and is now through to the last 16.

Harwich's vets played in a home match against Hintlesham Golf Club and came out victorious after a 7-1 win.

On Saturday, Harwich were hosts to Clacton, Colchester, Braintree and Frinton in the annual Boudica Challenge Bowl.

The format was mixed pairs, with six pairs from each club participating and the best four scores from each club giving the total team score.

Harwich were crowned winners, with 143 points.

Colchester were second, with 135, Frinton third, with 127, Clacton fourth, with 123, and Braintree fifth, with 122.

In the May Midweek Medal, the winner was Ronnie Brown, with 46 points.

Second place went to Adam Rogers, with 39.

In the veterans' section, the John Coles Cup was won by Jeff Murray, with a nett 68, and the runner up was Richard Chambers, with a nett 69.
