SUE Keen has been crowned ladies' champion at Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club.

She triumphed with an impressive gross score of 144 over 27 holes.

Lady captain Kate Fender came second with a gross score of 152.

Meanwhile, Harwich's 27-hole handicap competition, the Trixie Lambert Trophy, was won by Anne Myers with a nett score of 119.

Glynis Hutchence was runner-up with a nett score of 120.5.

The 18-hole handicap champion was Chris Bradford with a nett score of 75.

Mary Allston and Georgie Grout were runners-up with a nett score of 76.

Elsewhere, Harwich's veterans had an away match at Hintlesham Golf Club and lost 6-2.

The July Basil Warner contest was won by Alan Roots, with 43 points.

Ricky Chambers was second, with 42, Chris Day third, with 40, and Peter Townsend fourth, with 37.
