HARWICH and Parkeston players were treated to some well-earned R&R ahead of this weekend's big FA Cup tie at Ilford.

The Shrimpers have had a busy start to their new Thurlow Nunn League first division south campaign, with Tendring derbies against Brightlingsea Regent Reserves and Holland FC.

To ensure they have fully recovered in time for the weekend, the squad enjoyed some downtime at Bannatyne Colchester - Kingsford Park.

The squad were given free use of the luxury spa on Thursday evening.

"It was a lovely thing to do and we were very grateful to everyone at Kingsford Park," said assistant boss Mike Wallace.

"It's been a busy week and this was a perfect way to chill out and relax before Saturday's game."

Saturday's extra preliminary round match is Harwich's first FA Cup tie for a decade, since August 2009.
