HARWICH and Parkeston's management team have vowed to 'give everything they have' to make the club's supporters proud, in the coming season.

Shrimpers boss Mike Wallace and his assistant Gary Kioussis are currently gearing up for the new Thurlow Nunn League division south season.

The pair admit that it will be a 'long, hard season' - but say each member of their squad will have a part to play in helping them get results.

In a message to the club's supporters, they said: "As we are now four weeks away from the start of the season, we thought this was a good time to give you, the fans, an update about how pre-season has gone and where we are going into the season.

"Since our last competitive game back in March, a lot has changed regarding the playing side.

"A number of key players, Sean, Connor, Jake P, Michael and Dan, have all left to play their football elsewhere and Ryan has moved and cannot commit to travelling to Harwich whilst Jake K is taking a break from football.

"Obviously, losing players is a blow, especially when players move to other clubs in our league.

"However, we fully respect their decision to move on and we wish them all the best (but not when they play us!).

"Onto this season, we both felt a weakness last season for us was the size of our squad and that when we had a number of injuries or suspensions we did not have the depth in squad to deal with this.

"So this year, we are trying to build a squad that can cope with injuries, suspensions, holidays or work commitments - all obstacles that affect us at this level of football.

"We know this will be hard, as players give up their time for very little money and all want to play every week.

"However, to be successful, you need a squad of players - not just 11.

"This is something we feel the players we have brought in will agree with, as we have a number of quality players, all who could start week in, week out.

"It’s going to be a long, hard season and one thing we are sure is every one of our squad members will have a pivotal role to play in the season, whether they are starting the first game of the season or not.

"For the season ahead, we have set ourselves as a management team targets and those targets will be kept in-house and reviewed at each stage, set by ourselves and the players.

"As fans, we want you to know that we will all be giving everything we have to give you a team you’re proud to watch and support.

"At the end of the season, you will know the squad of 2020/21 is one that has given you everything, wherever we finish."
