SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Mark Molesley's appointment.

It all sounds very promising and like every manager we have, I'll be right behind them from the start.

I just hope the majority of fans realise that the clubs objective will be to stay in the EFL and nothing more. So lets not get on MM's back after a couple of defeats.

@TweetGraystone

Looks a smart move. Has worked on a shoe-string lower down the food chain and has experience with young players in particular which is two massive tick boxes for our current situation. Let’s hope we can add a few heads and have a stable season.

@P_Rourke

Seems a good guy, not scared of a challenge which is just as well.

@AllAtSeaFanzine

Really happy with it. Serial winner at Weymouth, and they seem gutted to lose him. Fits Ron’s criteria, just hope the fans have patience with him, give him time. I hope this will be a long term investment in a manager, not just one that we get rid of when the going gets tough.

@samgoody23

Very happy with the appointment. He’s clearly not afraid of the challenge which is great too. Hopefully people don’t get on his back, a small minority expect too much too soon. This will take time, but a sign of good things to come. Up the Blues!

@AlecHitchSUFC

Seems a good appointment and I wish Mark all the very best but we all know that it’s just not managing the team a lot will also depend on the backing he gets from above

@deanallum

Whoever got the job they would need time. There will be a lot of unknown factors this season and Molesley is another. He talks well, clearly has a work ethic and hopefully he meets the challenge head on. Will need points on the board ASAP before any philosophy can take shape.

@MWelly7

He sounds like a young enthusiastic manager with a good few years behind him. Hopefully he can make the step up and make us into a good footballing side like he did at Weymouth. For the coming season it’s all about staying up so he’s needs time to build. Patience is the key here!

@mattysufc

After the circus that was Sol Campbell and the lack of time he had for the club and the supporters I see this as a real breath of fresh air.

Fresh turf to build something solid and stable upon for the future.

@ShrimpersTalk

With what he's saying in his quotes , you can tell he knows about the ongoing issues but still wants to make it work and make it better, I hope he succeeds and can be the long running successful manager we need.

@JB_Allen

About time we got someone in, speaks really well and hopefully can build something to get us back up the divisions in the long run. Hopefully he will be able to build somewhat of a team.

@kevinlowe12345

Wishing him success. Worried over his lack of EFL experience and contacts. Hoping we don't sign a few Weymouth players.

@KeithEugene3

Good news. Need a CEO next

@Marra43

The best appointment we’ve had in years! Southend fans will all go on to love him, he works 24/7 to get the best results on and off the pitch....

@RamseyMatt87

Very Very happy! Brave decision from Ron but I think he has somewhat learned his lesson after passing on the Cowley brothers in the past, realised that good managers can come from unlikely places. Double promotion at any level is not to be sniffed at

@PinkyRound14

Sounds like the modern forward thinking coach with attention to detail we need, I just hope Mark is given time and the fans are patient because his impact will very likely come from the training ground rather than the transfer market and that won’t be a quick fix.

@Matt_Bacon36

Great signing, good to have a young energetic manager that has shown what he can do with a squad and it will be good to have a fresh start with a manager that deserves the chance to manage at this level with the two promotions in three seasons with Weymouth.

@jkirby04

Sounds very promising. Hope the fans can get behind a young manager who's done great at non league level. We all need to give him time though!

@MobbsLloyd

Genuinely delighted, he seems to be organised and methodical, which is exactly what these players need, and will come with less of an ego than some in recent years - I just hope he can replicate his successes at Roots Hall, but sure Goodship will put in a good word too!

@godofchicken

Breath of fresh air and seems to be someone with hunger to prove themselves with a solid track record.

We could have done all manner of things wrong still this summer so far, but this is a good step in the right direction. I'm actually smiling as a Seasider.... that's not often.
