HARWICH and Parkeston played out a 1-1 draw at Cornard United in their Thurlow Nunn League Division One South clash, writes TERRY FRANCIS.

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Shrimpers and during a goal less first half, both teams struggled to get their game together.

During the second half, manager Michael Wallace made changes to his line-up which included bringing on winger Sean Hobbins who livened up the Shrimpers attack.

Midway through the half Harwich took the lead when Declan Kama outpaced the home defence and calmly shot past the advancing goalkeeper.

It was a very winnable match for Harwich but the picture changed when the speed of Cornard substitute Jack Chapman down the right flank had the Shrimpers defence in trouble.

He scored the equaliser and proved an inspiration to his team as they now looked the better side.

Harwich could have nicked victory in the closing minutes when Gareth Heath's free-kick went inches outside the post but in the end they were thankful to take home a point.

Harwich Reserves were beaten 2-1 by Bergholt Reserves in the league with Eade on target.
