Colchester United have boosted their attacking options on transfer deadline day with the signing of QPR winger Olamide Shodipo on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at both under-19 and under-21 level, is set to go straight into the U's squad for their League Two clash with Newport County, this weekend.

Shodipo progressed through the academy at QPR and made his senior debut for the Championship club against Leeds United, on the opening day of the 2016/17 season.

The Dublin-born winger, who played six times for Port Vale during a loan spell there last season, has made five starts for QPR and a total of 14 first-team appearances for the West London club, so far.

He is the second player Colchester have signed on loan from Rangers this season following the arrival earlier this season of midfielder Brandon Comley, who has since made his move to the Weston Homes Community Stadium permanent.

Colchester are still hoping to add at least one other player to their squad, before tonight's transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, left-back Lewis Kinsella has left Colchester by mutual consent.

The former Aston Villa youngster had recently been on loan at National League side Aldershot.
