Colchester United are hoping that Sean Murray's ankle injury is not serious after he limped out of their 2-0 win over Newport County.

The former Watford midfielder was forced off in the opening minutes of the second half in the U's victory, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

He was replaced by new signing Ben Stevenson, who went on to score Colchester's opening goal in their victory.

McGreal said: “Sean has turned his ankle and gone right over on it.

“He sat in the dugout – he didn’t want to go inside and wanted to keep cheering the boys on and that’s true to him.

“We’re hoping that it’s not going to be a bad one but for Sean to come off, there must be something going on there because he’s a tough lad."

Brennan Dickenson is hoping to get more game time tomorrow afternoon when Colchester under-23s host Ipswich Town under-23s at Florence Park.

Dickenson, who has been out since last April with a serious knee injury, returned for the first time to match action last month when he featured in the development side's Premier League Cup game against Swansea City.
