Brandon Comley says he has the taste for more international football after making his Montserrat debut.

The midfielder is now back at Colchester United, having played for the country in their CONCACAF Nations League home qualifier against El Salvador, which resulted in a 2-1 defeat last weekend.

Comley, who qualifies to play for the country through his grandfather, says representing the Caribbean island was a memorable experience.

Although his focus is now firmly back on the U’s and their home clash with Cambridge United this weekend, the 22-year-old says he has the appetite for more.

Comley said: “It was a fantastic experience.

“It was my first international game and it’s something I will always remember, especially as I got to play with my brother.

“It’s definitely an experience I’d like to repeat and I want more of that type of football now.

“These kind of things can only make you stronger and wiser as a person and player.

“It’s a different type of football and that can only help you develop as a player.

“It was surreal – it was the first time that I’ve lined up in a game with my brother and going to play for a country that’s in our blood was a proud moment.

“It’s the most beautiful island it was a real touching moment.

“Half of the island has been destroyed by a volcano but there’s so much there.

“It felt like it went really quickly because a lot of the time I was travelling going from one place to the next.

“I was only in Montserrat for about three full days so that part of it went really quickly but the travelling felt really long.”

Comley is now hoping to reclaim his place in Colchester’s starting line-up when they entertain Cambridge tomorrow.

Diaz Wright replaced Comley in the U’s side for the 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers, last weekend.

“I’m excited to be back with the boys,” said the former QPR midfielder.

“They got a good away point and we’ll be looking to get the points at the weekend.

“I’m buzzing to be back and we’re all pushing to pick up the points.

“It’s been a very good start from the boys and as soon as I got off the plane, I was focused.

“I made sure that I got back earlier than the other boys so that I can back and train on Tuesday, because I just wanted to get straight back into it as soon as I could.

“I’m ready to fight for my place and the whole squad is very good.”
