Just what the doctor ordered

OUR win and performance against Yeovil Town was just what the doctor ordered to get back on track, after the Bury defeat.

It was a solid performance and we knew that they had certain threats.

Yeovil are an unpredictable team and I’m sure they’ll pick up some good results over the course of the season, which they’ve done already at the likes of Newport and Notts County.

After the Bury game, it was a bit of a banana skin for us – the fans were expecting us to bounce straight back and were demanding that which is what we do ourselves.

It was nice to see Noubs get two more goals and I thought he was absolutely fantastic for us.

It was really good to have Tom Lapslie back, too.

He’s got a wise head on young shoulders and he does a lot of the dirty work that goes unnoticed in games – he’s a vital player for us.

The table is looking good but one thing we’ve not done this season is put back to back wins together and if we’re going to be successful, we need to do that.

Our goal difference at the moment is worth another point to us.

The table is pretty tight at the moment and any advantage you can get is important.

We know that there are goals all over the pitch and ten different players have now scored for us, this season.

If we keep scoring goals, we’ll be in with a shot of winning games.

We’ll be looking to put back-to-back wins together at Stevenage this weekend and get some more vital points in October and see where we are, at the end of the month.

We were sixth at the end of August, fifth at the end of September and hopefully we’ll keep moving up, this month.

Stevenage are a bit of an unpredictable side – every time I’ve been there in the past, we’ve had to roll our sleeves up and be up for a battle and I’m sure this game will be no different.

It’s something I’ll look forward to, if selected.

We’ll hopefully have a good following at Stevenage and the boys won’t be able to do anything without the fans.

We want them to be our 12th man and I can tell you, as a player their support definitely plays a big part.

It’s a powerful thing when everyone wants to do their best for the football club.

Feeling a million dollars

THE Bury game was very disappointing – for the first time this season, we came in feeling deflated after the game.

But we had a very positive open team meeting the following day and everyone gave their opinions on what went wrong and we needed to do to put it right.

We shut the first-team dressing room door at the stadium, certain players said what they needed to say and it was a really open chat.

I can’t stress enough how important that meeting was.

Confidence was a bit shot after the Bury game.

The boys as a team – not the staff – didn’t really have an answer to why we performed like that.

But everyone was able to draw a line under it and that kicked us on for Yeovil.

We had gone into that meeting deflated but we left it feeling like a million dollars, with our heads and shoulders up.

That gave us the platform to go out and express ourselves - the character of the boys is great and we responded well.

We’ll never go through a whole season where we’re in fifth gear and sail through all 46 games – that’s impossible.

But character is important and that came through against Yeovil.

Norris nomination is deserved

IT’S great to see Luke Norris short-listed for the League Two Player of the Month award for September.

It shows that the team are doing something right for him to be nominated because we’re setting him up with chances.

But he thoroughly deserves it and all of the boys are hoping that he’ll win it.

It’s great when you see team-mates get that kind of outside recognition.

He’s been fantastic for us so far this season and he’ll only get better and better as he gets fitter and we’ve already seen what a threat he can be.

Mourinho madness

AS a Chelsea fan, I loved Jose Mourinho as our manager and he was absolutely fantastic when he first came onto the scene.

He had a confidence bordering on arrogance and he backed that up with results but now, he seems to be taking it a bit too far at Manchester United.

He’s attracting the wrong kind of media attention at the moment and I don’t think it’s a good thing for him to be digging players out in public.

It’s unnecessary in my opinion and it’s bringing negative attention.

If you look at his CV, it’s absolutely phenomenal but I think his image has turned ugly.

It’s great to see what Maurizio Sarri is doing at Chelsea and he looks the real deal.

He’s taking Chelsea under the radar at the moment and he’s very attack minded – he’s bringing that European football.

Snooker loopy

I’M hoping to have a go at table football at the new supporters’ bar at the stadium sometime.

I can’t say I’ve played it much but one thing I have played a bit of in the past is snooker and pool.

In fact, when I was at Hereford, I was in the middle of nowhere so I decided to join a snooker club and played in a league every Tuesday night.

I was playing four times a week at that point and hitting 50-plus breaks, so I got quite good at it.

But it’s like a lot of things in that if you stop playing, you don’t keep your eye in.

Perry Blanchette, our sports scientist, fancies himself massively at pool and snooker – but he always ends up getting turned over!

Jacko's the king of the gear

I GOT some stick from my team-mate Ryan Jackson for a grey jumper I wore into training, last week.

Jacko is the king of the gear and buys all of the expensive clothes.

When I walk into the dressing room, he’s on me and when he saw my jumper he said it was tired.

I guess if I give it out, I have to take it too!

Ryan Gondoh has the worst dress sense in our squad.

There’s one word I’d use to describe his fashion and that’s ‘wild’ – he wears some outrageous clobber!
