FRANK Nouble is putting the success of the team above any personal glory, according to Colchester United boss John McGreal.

The experienced forward bagged a brace in the U’s 3-1 win over Yeovil Town on Tuesday night, to take his tally for the season to three.

Nouble has been played predominantly in a wide position for Colchester over recent games, helping them rise to fourth in League Two.

And boss McGreal says the former West Ham United youngster is a big personality in his squad.

McGreal said: “Frank’s done terrific for us – he’s come as a centre-forward but we’ve played him in wide areas and he’s scored three from there now.

“He’s a boy that wants to work ever so hard and a huge influence in the dressing room.

“He deserves his goals because he works ever so hard for them.

“When you’re playing in different positions and the team comes first over personal glory, you can’t buy that.

“That’s fantastic and I think we’ve got a lot of boys who do that, within the team.

“The way Frank dispossessed one of their players for his first goal shows the work ethic that not even he has but also the other players, too.

“He’s run half of the pitch and put it in the top corner, which was fantastic for him.”

Colchester’s three goals against Yeovil took their league tally to 24 goals in their first 11 matches.

Only Peterborough United (28) and West Bromwich Albion (25) have scored more than the U’s this season, in the top four divisions of English football.

Tom Eastman became the tenth different player to find the net for Colchester when he scored against Yeovil.

McGreal added: “We’ve had ten different scorers now and long may that continue.

“It’s great that the goals are coming from all areas and we want to continue that.”
