ABSOLUTELY fantastic – what a performance!

Luke Norris was in fine form for Colchester United against Crawley Town, at the weekend.

And it certainly had Ian Holloway purring on Saturday night.

The former QPR boss, a pundit on Quest’s EFL highlights show, was seriously impressed by the U’s leading scorer’s all-round performance – and rightly so.

But Norris is not the only one keeping Colchester’s supporters entertained.

They are certainly getting value for money at the JobServe Community Stadium, this season.

John McGreal’s side have hit the net an impressive 19 times in their last seven home games.

What’s more, they have scored three or more goals in four of those matches, at the Community Stadium.

In their latest triumph, a 3-1 win over Crawley the U’s registered a total of 19 shots on goal, nine of which were on target, despite the hosts actually having less possession overall than their visitors.

Colchester scored from three of those attempts and the quality of their final two strikes from Norris and Frank Nouble, was particularly high.

Holloway picked out Norris for special praise and without doubt, he is a striker who is bang in form – but the goals are not just coming from him.

Colchester have already had ten different scorers this season and have now scored 28 goals in 13 League Two games.

Only West Bromwich Albion and Peterborough United have found the net with more regularity in the league in the top four divisions in English football so far, this season.

Colchester’s win over Crawley was not faultless; they found themselves under pressure at times in the second half, especially after the visitors changed their system as they chased the game.

The Reds revered to two in attack and threw a centre-back up front and McGreal deserves credit for sending on defender Frankie Kent and changing to three at the back, in response.

That ultimately paved the way for another win at the Community Stadium and no team in the fourth tier has won more games on home territory, so far.

So the U’s are serving up plenty of entertainment for their fans; the introduction of a supporters bar at the stadium is now looking like impeccable timing.
