Colchester United will tonight discover who their FA Cup first-round opponents will be.

The U’s are number 13 in the hat for the draw, which takes place at 7pm and will be screened live on BBC2.

Colchester will be looking to make further progress in the competition than they have over each of the last two seasons, where they have fallen at the first hurdle.

Last year, John McGreal's side suffered a 1-0 home loss to non-league outfit Oxford City.

And the season prior to that, they bowed out of the competition at the first-round stage against Chesterfield.

But in the 2015-16 season, the U's reached the fourth round when they were beaten 4-1 by Premier League outfit Spurs with Gavin Massey scoring Colchester's consolation goal.

Meanwhile, Colchester are in Essex Senior Cup action tonight.

The U's host Romford in the county competition, at the JobServe Community Stadium - kick-off is 7.30pm.

Colchester are likely to field a young side against their Bostik League North opponents, particularly with the club's first team in League Two action at Grimsby Town tomorrow night.
