SAMMIE Szmodics has been shortlisted for the League Two Player of the Month award for November.

The U's attacker was in fine form for the club last month, scoring all three of his side's goals in their four League Two matches.

Szmodics kicked off the month by scoring the winner in a 1-0 win over Swindon Town.

And after defeat at Newport County he helped his side claim a 1-1 draw with Exeter City with a fine strike, before following that up by bagging the winner in a 1-0 victory at Forest Green Rovers.

Szmodics has now scored eight goals this season and is Colchester's joint leading scorer with Luke Norris, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old is up against Carlisle United midfielder Jamie Devitt, Dean Lewington of MK Dons and Bury's Jay O'Shea for the monthly accolade.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL Trader Mikey Mumford.

The winner will be announced on Friday.
