THEO Robinson admits missing Colchester United’s game at Morecambe last weekend was a frustrating experience.

But the experienced striker is now back at the U’s and aiming to make up for lost time when they face Macclesfield Town, this weekend.

Robinson briefly returned to his parent club Southend United last week, after his original loan spell at Colchester expired.

And with negotiations on his U’s return between chairman Robbie Cowling and his Blues counterpart Ron Martin still ongoing at the end of last week, the former Watford youngster missed Colchester’s 1-1 draw at Morecambe.

But now Robinson has sealed another loan move to the JobServe Community Stadium until the end of the season – and is aiming to carry on where he left off.

Robinson said: “It was frustrating not being involved in Morecambe, especially with the form that I was in and scoring goals.

“I spoke to Frank (Nouble) and some of the lads when they were up at Morecambe last Friday night and I felt like I should have been there myself, to be honest.

“It was a frustrating few days; my partner and I said that my mood changed in the three days I was back there to being at Colchester this whole time.

“I’m here now and in high spirits and looking forward to being part of things at Colchester.”

Robinson briefly returned to parent club Southend last week, while negotiations for his loan return to Colchester were still taking place.

However, the 30-year-old admits having to return to Roots Hall with his future undecided was an ‘annoying and frustrating’ experience.

He said: “I don’t know why I went back (to Southend).

“I was involved and playing football (at Colchester) and to go back there and being undecided about my future was a bit of an annoying and frustrating thing.

“The funny thing about it is that the manager (Sol Campbell) wanted me in the summer when he was at Macclesfield.

“I didn’t even get a message to know what I was doing, to be honest.

“I just had to go off my own back and go into training and in that sense, it was a bit of a strange one.

“But I just got my head down and trained for three days and then I wasn’t involved at the weekend, so I had the weekend off and re-assessed with my family.

“It was a funny one, as I was positive going into training (at Southend) and tried to get everyone going in the same way as I was doing at Colchester.

“I’m a bubbly person but it’s just one of those things.

“I’m very pleased to be back, to say the least.

“On my part, I always wanted to be back here.

“I didn’t really want to go back (to Southend) but it’s done now and I’m looking forward to playing football.

“For me, this team is on the up and you can see that at the minute, Southend are fighting against relegation.

“For me personally, this is obviously a move that I’m glad has happened.”

Robinson was on target when Colchester played out a 1-1 draw at Macclesfield, last September.

The U’s host the struggling Silkmen at the Community Stadium tomorrow, with the on-loan striker aiming to help John McGreal’s side push towards the top three.

He added: “Macclesfield will be a tough one.

“They’ve got problems of their own but we just need to concentrate on ourselves and go from there.

“The team is pushing and we’re only a few points off the top three.

“We’re unbeaten and I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
