COLCHESTER United Former Players' Association secretary John Schultz reflected on a successful and enjoyable evening at the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday.

The organisation held its annual dinner and one of the highlights was the induction of Lomana Tresor Lua Lua, Jamie Cureton and Chris Iwelumo into the U's Hall of Fame.

Lua Lua and Cureton were able to attend but Iwelumo was on media duty with talkSPORT.

There was a great turnout of other former players, officials and supporters, including legendary striker Ray Crawford.

"It was one of our best dinners to date," said Schultz.

"We were pleased to have Lomana and Jamie with us but Chris was unable to attend, due to his talkSport commitments.

"Chairman Barry Smith gave the background to all three inductees and all were very well received by those at the dinner.

"They seemed very popular with those who voted for them.

"First-time attendee Kevin Bremner was at the game in the afternoon (as Colchester lost 2-0 at home to Cheltenham Town) and certainly showed his talent as an auctioneer in the evening.

"It was also great to see Ray and Carol Crawford for the match and during the evening we had a chance to talk about next year being the 50th anniversary of the famous FA Cup giant-killing against Leeds game."

Michael J Fitch treated the audience to an evening of magic and comedy.

Michael is the son of former U's director Nigel, who recently passed away.

"I'd recommend visiting Michael’s Instagram page to see Michael in action with Lomana and performing a trick using his scarf," added Shultz.

"A great night was had by all."
