Pupils have chance to turn Dovercourt's Christmas lights
6:00pm Wednesday 14th November 2012 in News
PRIMARY school pupils will have the chance to turn on a town’s Christmas lights.
The Harwich and Dovercourt Partnership will deliver 1,700 tickets to primary schools in two weeks time. One lucky pupil will turn on Dovercourt’s Christmas lights at a ceremony on Saturday December 8.
Pupils must put their contact details on the tickets and return them to special post boxes in Oxleys of Dovercourt, Cards for You, or Superdrug in Dovercourt High Street.
Harwich Town Mayor, John Thurlow, will pick a lucky winner on the day of the switch on. The winner will also have a photo with Father Christmas.
Lesley Pollard, of the Harwich and Dovercourt Partnership, said: “This worked really well when we did it last year – it’s more interesting than having some celebrity turn up."
