Fire union strike tonight and Saturday

Fire Brigade Union members nationally will take industrial action from 6pm to 10pm on Friday December 13 and Saturday December 14.

This is the fifth and sixth strike since the end of September.

The union is taking action over plans to increase the retirement age of firefighters from 55 to 60 because of concerns about fitness.

Go onto the Essex Fire website and see how few incidents they have to attend (thankfully). They should feel lucky that they have such a job. Think of others doing really manual work in their 60's and beyond. They should hide their heads in shame for this action.
