Sixteen projects which improve the health and well-being of people across north east Essex have received cash grants.

The schemes, which include support for those recovering from addictions and others receiving speech and language therapy, have been awarded a total of £22,368 in funding.

The money has been made available by community healthcare provider Anglian Community Enterprise.

The projects which will receive money include the Volunteer Centre Tendring which will get funding to buy an updated laptop and printer to enable it to provide volunteering advice to disadvantaged members of the community.

Horse Rangers Association Harwich, which teaches children horsemanship and riding, has been awarded cash to buy solar lighting so children can help out after school when it is dark.
