A CONTROVERSIAL part-night lighting scheme has been delayed after the decision was called-in.
Lights in Tendring were due to be turned off between midnight and 5am from February 9 as part of the Essex County Council scheme to save money.
The switch-off had been due to begin on New Year’s Day before being delayed until January 26 as the council needed more time to draw up their plans.
However the decision has now been called in and a new date is yet to be confirmed, however it is expected to be in mid-February.
County councillor for Harwich, Ivan Henderson, called in the decision over the switch-off in Tendring.
He said: “I called it in as it is the last opportunity before they implement it to make a case for certain roads but also people have not had an opportunity to put their views across on why it is wrong."
