A POP-UP shop started to help vulnerable residents has been hailed an overwhelming success by organisers.

Winter Warmers helped 440 people who were in need of clothes, shoes, bedding and other items during the three weeks they were based in Waddesdon Road, Dovercourt.

A total of 1,142 items were distributed to people on low incomes and benefits.

The scheme was a joint venture between Tendring Council and the Citizens Advice Bureau. It was also supported by Community Connector for Essex Fire Service Les Nicoll.

The council’s member for wellbeing and partnerships Lynda McWilliams wished to thank everyone who was a part of the project.

“It was a community effort and an overwhelming success giving so many people real help when they needed it,” she said.
