Maternity unit closure: I’m shocked and angry, admits last mum to give birth at unit
THE last mother to give birth at Harwich Maternity Unit before it was forced to close has said she is shocked and saddened at its loss.
Rachel Woods, of Temple Pattle, in Brantham, said the temporary closure of the unit was a genuine disappointment for mums-to-be who deserve the “wonderful” treatment it provides.
The 28-year-old gave birth to baby Elizabeth on March 12 at 1.50pm.
“I had the most wonderful birthing experience there. The facilities are amazing, but most of all the staff are so incredibly passionate and caring and go above and beyond the call of duty,” she said.
