A VILLAGE primary school which was plunged into special measures after ‘losing direction’ has been criticised for not making fast enough progress.

Mistley Norman Church of England Primary School went from good to inadequate following the inspection by Ofsted last November.

A monitoring inspection carried out in March found the school has “acted with appropriate urgency to tackle the weaknesses identified in the inspection report” but found more work was needed.

A statement from the school’s govening board said: “The whole school community is committed to ensuring that progress is made and that the school moves forward quickly.”
