A GROUP of former DJs met to mark 50 years since pirate radio began.
Roger Day, Alan Turner and Bryan Vaughan, all formerly of Radio Caroline, were on hand at the New Bell Inn, Harwich to celebrate the anniversary with Mayor Dave McLeod, Mayoress Dee King and MP Bernard Jenkin on Friday.
The venue was chosen because DJs would often gather there before setting off for their radio shows based four miles off the coast of Harwich.
Landlord Richard Watts said: “I was very willing to host the event given the pub’s strong connection with Radio Caroline.”
