STREET parties, cheering children and a carnival atmosphere are hoped to greet top international cyclists when they race through Tending.

Residents are being called to host their own celebratory events and parties along the Women’s Tour race route to get the whole community involved and cash-in on the unique chance to showcase the area.

Mark Platt, cabinet member for events, said: “It will be without doubt the single largest sporting event ever to be hosted by our district and by having both dates a larger part of Tendring will be able to join in."
