A COUPLE celebrating their golden wedding anniversary have raised £500 for the Essex Air Ambulance.
Kathy and Terry Sullivan, of Ray Avenue, Dovercourt, told friends and family not to give them presents to mark the occasion, and instead to donate money to the life-saving charity.
“We didn’t want anything and I wanted to celebrate with all our friends and family, so we asked them to donate money,” said Kathy, 68.
“We got £500, which we thought was brilliant. We were really pleased.”
The couple met at a birthday party in Harwich when Mr Sullivan was billeted at HMS Ganges, across the water in Shotley, and they married on April 25, 1964.
They have three children and six grandchildren.
