Harwich and Manningtree Standard: Reward offered to anyone who can identify car arsonists Reward offered to anyone who can identify car arsonists

A £1,000 reward has been offered to anyone who can help police arrest those responsible for torching a number of cars in Dovercourt.

Four cars were set alight on Brooklyn Road shortly after 1am on Monday with two other vehicles, a garage and a fence also catching fire as a result.

Neighbourhood police inspector Chris Willis said; “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to find out who started these fires and why they did.

“It appears to be mindless vandalism so we would be keen to hear from anyone who can help.”

The reward is being offered by Crimestoppers to anyone who has information which leads to the arrest and charge of the individuals responsible, and informants can remain anonymous.

Crimestoppers eastern region manager Ann Scott said: "Dovercourt is a safe place to live so this incident has really shocked and concerned the local community.

“If you have information about who was involved, then you have nothing to fear by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously. It could help prevent further attacks.”

Only information given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 which leads to an arrest and charge is eligible for the award.

Information given online at crimestoppers-uk.org or or directly to Essex police on 101 will not qualify.
