We’re under the moon with ‘atrocious’ broadband service

RURAL communities can often feel they are trailing in the wake of their town and city counterparts with new technology, but this week it was revealed parts of the Tendring district are so far behind, they have slower broadband speeds than the moon.
The revelation may not come as a surprise to some residents, though, as they struggle to get by with speeds of just 0.6 megabits per second (mbps). Average UK speeds are 14.7mbps.
Tendring Council’s Rural Projects Panel is working to find the best way to improve broadband speeds in the district’s most rural areas.
Panel chairman Fred Nicholls, who is also a councillor for Great Bromley, said: “We are neglected in the rural areas. We are suffering dramatically if we are more than a mile from the green boxes."
