HOMES could be built on a pub’s beer garden in a bid to keep it from closing.
The owners of The Cross Inn in Great Bromley have applied to Tendring Council for outline planning permission to build four terraced houses on the pub’s grounds.
They hope any profits from the building of the homes will allow them to keep the pub running as a going concern.
The application is for four two or three bedroom terraced properties.
The planning statement says: “It is common knowledge that pubs are closing daily due to a lack of customers and capital investment."
Tendring Council will make the final decision on the plans.
