High winds cut off power to hundreds of homes
Updated 12:19pm Friday 11th July 2014 in News
HUNDREDS of homes were left without power after high winds damaged power cables.
Homes in Little Oakley and Ramsey lost power at 4pm on Wednesday after strong winds blew through the district.
The power to the 361 homes was restored within 20 minutes but a second outage happened at 4.45pm.
The majority of homes had power again within 30 minutes but UK Power Networks continued to repair the lines into Thursday morning with 111 homes in Ramsey still without power at 8am.
Two Village Primary School was also affected by the power outage.
Nicola Holmes, of Little Oakley, said: “Lost power yesterday afternoon a few times. Today we have power, but no phone line or internet.”
Power was restored at 10am.
