A ONE-off evening of poetry, real-life stories and music will be held at a historic fort to commemorate the start of the First World War.
Eye-witness accounts taken from interviews recorded in the 1960s will also feature in the unique event, hosted by workshop music group Choral Tradition and written/compiled by the group’s leader and director Mick Verrier.
He said: “This one-off event is a sensitive, thought-provoking and occasionally amusing look at the opening stages of a war which changed people’s attitudes to war, but which acknowledges that nobody knew, in August 1914, that it would.
The event will be held at the Redoubt Fort, off Main Road, Harwich, on Monday at 8pm.
Tickets are £7 for adults, £4 for concessions, and include donations to the Poppy Appeal and The Harwich Society.
