A MAJOR clean-up operation is underway at a village social club after human excrement and smashed windows were found at the venue.
Foxash Social Club in Harwich Road, Lawford has had to cancel or move booked events after the vandalism attack on Sunday.
It comes just days after the club had to close when travellers arrived on the attached recreation field on Thursday night.
The committee hired a private bailiff in an attempt to move them off immediately but the group made up of seven vans, seven trucks and horses did not leave until Sunday afternoon.
The two incidents have left the club committee frustrated.
Chairman Tony Staff said: “Windows have been smashed and things have been stolen.
“There has also been a lot of human excrement around the side of the clubhouse and the fields.
“We are planning on getting it fumigated in the next two weeks and several things have had to be cancelled or moved such as fixtures for the darts and pool teams.”
