VILLAGERS are all shook up about a special open mic night coming to Great Oakley.
Everyone is invited to slip on their blue suede shoes and white jump suits for the Elvis themed night at the Maybush Inn in honour of tribute star Brian Lee next Friday at 7pm.
Mr Lee lives in Lime Trees care home near the pub and has become friends with landlord Eamonn Chambers since he moved in.
The carbon copy of the King has headlined Purfleet’s Circus Tavern and even the London Palladium when he was still active.
Unfortunately he suffered a stroke in 1999 and has been unable to perform since then.
Mr Chambers is offering a £100 prize to the winner and is hoping to attract Elvis fans and impersonators from far and wide.
“Brian still loves listening to Elvis all the time,” said Mr Chambers.
“I often visit him in his room and it is full of Elvis merchandise.”
Entry will be free and the best performer will win £100.
