A ZIP wire, fitness trail and new play equipment costing more than £60,000 is set to be installed in Ramsey.
Equipment will be put in place off Wix Road from the start of September and is expected to take up to four weeks to complete.
The new enclosed play area will replace equipment which is 25 years old.
Works are starting after Tendring’s Big Society Fund agreed a grant of £40,000 with an additional £10,000 from Essex County Council’s Community Initiatives Fund.
Essex Environment Trust contributed £10,945 which came via the Landfill Communities Fund, courtesy of Cory Environmental Ltd, with the rest of the money coming from Ramsey War Memorial Hall.
More than 800 households were consulted over the project and the design has been based on their feedback.
Suzanne Howe, a trustee of Ramsey War Memorial Hall, said: “The existing play equipment is very out of date and inadequate."
