STUMPING up the cash for a PCSO car could help keep the officers in the Mistley area, it has been claimed.
Manningtree, Mistley and Lawford parish councils have been asked to pay the upkeep costs for a car used by their two police community support officers.
Now Mistley Parish Council has agreed in principle to contribute to the cost of running the vehicle amid fears the car could be scrapped.
At a meeting last Tuesday, six councillors voted in favour of paying towards the car, subject to the other councils contributing, with four voting against.
Chairman Martin Rayner said: "By having the vehicle in our area it might help keep the PCSOs in Mistley and not somewhere else.”
The PSCOs cover Bradfield, Wix, Wrabness, Little and Great Bromley, Tendring and Ardleigh, and all will be asked to be asked to chip in.
