CREATIVE pupils have been given vouchers and a cash grant for their school after scooping top prizes in a writing competition.
Children from St Joseph’s Primary School, in The Drive, Dovercourt, won first prize in two competitions run by Trinity House.
To celebrate the lighthouse authority’s 500th anniversary this year, the company asked schoolchildren to write a story about Trinity House and its next 500 years, and to draw them a birthday card.
Harwich author and Trinity House Elder Brother Captain Richard Woodman has now presented the winning prizes.
- Story-writing competition winners: First price – Leyton Howlett, St Joseph’s Primary School, £500 cheque for the school and an individual prize of £25 book token. Runner-up – Emma Nicholson, St Joseph’s Primary School, £10 book token. Runner-up – Moesha Jordan, Mayflower Primary School, £5 book token.
