A COMMUNITY campaigner has called for more police in Tendring after a report blamed outside criminals for a rise in violence in the district.
A shock report compiled by Essex police and crime commissioner Nick Alston revealed some crimes in Tendring had increased hugely in the past year.
Overall, crime has risen by less than five per cent, but serious violent crime has shot up by more than a third.
Wayne Tearle of Una Road, Parkeston said more bobbies on the beat would deter crooks from commiting crimes.
“They have a good team at Harwich police station, but there needs to be more of them, it needs to be doubled at least to cut these crimes or it will get a lot worse.
“If we have the police on the beat, patrolling the streets and catching the drug dealers and criminals, it will deter people from coming here to commit crime. "
