Fears raised that train ferry terminal is "wasting away"
A HISTORIC train ferry terminal could fall into the sea if more is not done to maintain it, a councillor has claimed.
The terminal, which connects a train ferry to the railway tracks on land for freight to be driven on or off the ship, was moved to Harwich Quay in 1923, following the end of the First World War.
It continued to operate in the town until 1987.
Harwich Town Council wrote to Clemence Cheng, chief executive officer of Hutchison Ports UK, to ask the company what it planned to do to maintain the Grade II-listed structure.
Councillor David Flavell said: “People are saying what a terrible state it is in and asking what is going on.”
