ALMOST 300 people turned out for an open day at Manningtree Sports Centre.
The site threw open its doors on Sunday for people to try out a wide variety of sports and activities.
Among the activities on offer were wall climbing, archery, badminton, table tennis, roller hockey, a penalty shootout and a fitness challenge in the gym.
Youngsters also had fun on a bouncy castle.
The site is run by Tendring Council and its communications manager, Nigel Brown, hailed the day as a great success.
He said: “There was an excellent turnout at Manningtree Sports Centre and a large number of families made the most of what was on offer.
“It proved to be a very successful event and one that is likely to be repeated in the future.”
Staff at the centre staged a cake sale and tombola as part of the special day, and raised £107 for Essex Air Ambulance.
