A CHILDREN’S carnival is bringing a taste of Brazil to the streets of Harwich next week.
This year’s Harwich Children’s Carnival takes place on Thursday, setting off from Harwich Green at 1.30pm.
The route will take the parade through Old Harwich, before returning back to the green, where the celebration continues with speeches, prizes and performances.
Nine of the primary schools and nurseries taking part have been working on performances, with African and Brazilian drumming artists, BrazilArte and Efua Sey.
This year’s theme is Off the Page, with those taking part drawing inspiration from books.
The carnival, which has been running since 2007, was forced to take a break last year after long-running funding problems.
The event is now run by the Grand Theatre of Lemmings, which took over in 2013. For more information, go to the Harwich Children’s
