AN over-50s club dug out some old photographs for a trip down memory lane.

More than 60 members of the Harwich Centre Guild joined together to reminisce over old school pictures from the 1940s and local Harwich scenes that have changed over the years.

Vice-chairman John Holland said: “Members of HarwichCentreGuild were asked to dig out their ownphotographs for a slide show.

“They ranged from school pictures of the 1940s, including a cutting from the Standard, to pubs whichare no longer here like the Bird inHand, the Anchor, and the Phoenix, an almost-deserted ClarkesRoad, andabeach scene which shows howthe beachhas been built up over the years.

“Therewas also one of Dovercourt Station when it had a thrivingWHSmith bookstall, with Girl Guides and Brownies off to see royalty in Chelmsford.Awellknown local sweet shop owned byM Barkerwas here too.”

TheHarwichCentreGuild is a club for over-50s and meets at TheCliff Hotel, Marine Parade, Dovercourt every Wednesday from10am to noon.
