SPARKLING Christmas lights lit up the streets of Dovercourt to kick-start the festive season.
Shops opened late and stalls lined the High Street for the Christmas lights switch-on last Friday.
Carol singing rung out, morris dancers entertained the crowds and characters from the hit Disney film Frozen met children at the event.
There were also children's rides, games, face painting and the town's first Christmas tree outside the library covered in donated baubles decorated by residents.
Kirsty Ayling, organiser, said: "It went so well.
"It was really busy and everyone had a great time.
"All the sleepless nights were worth it, I'm really pleased."
