AN all-weather pitch is set to undergo a £5,500 revamp.
Essential work to the 3G astro pitch at Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles leisure centre will be taken out in a bid to extend its life by 12 to 19 months.
Work needs to be done as the pitch is nearing the end of it's life and Tendring Council, which runs the leisure centre, will look at longer term options of maintenance.
The work is due to be completed by the autumn, in time for the new hockey and football seasons.
Mick Skeels, Tendring Council leisure and tourism boss said it was to be recognised the work was a stop-gap.
“We know the pitch is coming to the end of its life, and want to look at sensible ways forward for the pitch in the future,” he said.
“This short-term repair will extend the life of the current pitch, meaning there is no gap in provision while we look at future options.”
