MOTORISTS have been updated on planned night-time closures to the A120 as maintenance works continue.

Highways England have completed the first two phases of maintenance work on the A120 between the Horsley Cross and Ramsey roundabouts.

The agency has announced that the third phase of their work is undergoing some slight changes. Work started on Monday, November 15, and is scheduled to end on Tuesday, February 15.

It will take place between 9pm and 6am on weeknights only, subject to weather conditions. No work will be carried out over the Christmas and New Year period, which is from December 21 to January 4.

Highways England have announced the A120 will be closed while this work takes place.

The agency said: “Our works along this area of the A120 will involve repairing road defects, such as resurfacing, renewal of road markings and road studs and new signs.

“This work here is essential and will contribute to the life expectancy of the road and make journeys safer for motorists.”

Westbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Ramsey Roundabout via the A1352 to Mistley, then take the B1035 to re-join the A120 at Horsley Cross Roundabout.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted off the A120 at Hare Green Interchange, onto the A133, B1033, B1414 and B1352 to Ramsey Roundabout to rejoin the A120.

Tendering council’s deputy leader Carlo Guglielmi said: “This will cause some problems with commuters getting home and traffic being diverted, but these are essential works.”
