A NEW coffee shop is welcoming customers to sip their afternoon tea while enjoying views of the River Stour.

In just three weeks, Tea at the Quay has turned into one of the most popular spots for relaxation in Mistley.

The business, which is run by co-owners and partners Matt Rozier, 31, and Chris Quilter, 25, offers the perfect mix of hot drinks and mouth-watering bites.

Matt said: “This building has contained a café probably through the last ten years so we were quite keen that we wanted to make it notably different to what has been here before.

“We have lots of plants and a botanical theme that ties the quay outside. That seems to be a big hit with our customers."

Matt and Chris have also teamed up with a company called Too Good To Go which helps businesses reduce their food waste.

Matt added: “The idea is we create what we call a magic bag so the customer won't know what will be in the bag.

“You submit that you want the bag, you turn up at the end of the day and you have a surprise of what’s in it which is quite good fun.

“Our bag costs £3 and customers can expect to receive a minimum of £10 worth of food. Sometimes even more.”
