A cordon is in place in an alleyway in Harwich while police investigate a serious sexual assault reported close to a pub.
Essex Police received a call at about 6am today (August 6) from a woman stating she had been sexually assaulted close to The Bottle Kiln Wetherspoons.
The force says the victim is receiving support from specialist officers.
A cordon is now in place at an alleyway running from Kingsway to Empire Road and police officers will remain in the area today to carry out enquiries as a probe has been launched.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything in the area this morning or have any further information, CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us.
