A HARWICH primary school is set to perform a new production of a popular Roald Dahl book.
Students at Spring Meadow Primary School, in Pound Farm Drive, have been working hard on their rendition of Matilda Jr.
Taking place at the Mayflower School Hall, on March 27 and 28 the show follows the story of a young, intelligent girl through her difficult time at school.
It documents how she overthrows her tyrannical headteacher.
Neglected by her parents, Matilda finds solace in reading and her teacher, Miss Honey, who confront the school's tyrannical headmistress Miss Trunchbull.
She even finds out she has unique telekinetic powers which she uses to her advantage.
A spokesman for the school said: "Pupils have been in rehearsal for several months getting ready to perform Matilda Jr to the residents of town.
"This is after the huge success of their production of ‘Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat’ last year."
Harwich Council generously sponsored the performance to allow the cast and team to upscale and improve the show.
Tickets are available to purchase from the school office at £2 each.
