MARITIME staff working out at sea can stay in touch with their families with free internet after a charity donation.
Three UK network will give seafarers mobile phone WiFi to connect with their families while at Harwich International Port and nearby waters.
The phone network has teamed up with the Merchant Navy Welfare Board to give visitors to UK ports access to 15GB of internet a month. It is enough data to make 1,500 10 minute Skype calls per month or send around 75,000 emails.
The donation is part of Three’s Community Fund, which launched in January and allows employees to nominate a different charity to benefit every month. It has provided 32 WiFi hotspots to ports across the country.
