AN exhibition which aims to shed a more positive light on one of our most famous painters is currently taking place in Dedham.
Since the film Summer in February, Sir Alfred Munnings has been thought of as a bit of a mean-spirited individual, especially towards his first wife, Florence, who subsequently killed herself.
But now a new show at his former home, Castle House, is revealing a more heroic side.
AJ Munnings: Sketches from France, 1918, is a unique insight into life for soldiers during the First World War, from the dramatic calvary charges on the battlefield to the nightlife in the bars and clubs behind the frontline.
n AJ Munnings: Sketches from France, 1918, runs at the Munnings Museum, Castle House, Dedham, until October 31. For more information, go to siralfredmunnings.co.uk
